Art Lucas

Oaks on the River Luxury Boutique Resort started as a dream for Art Lucas, long ensconced in coastal Georgia’s commercial real estate industry, to give back to his native McIntosh County, Georgia and the City of Darien.

“You just can’t create this unique and special place with its beautiful oak trees and gorgeous high bank and beautiful river, Art says. “I want to create some nice jobs here. I love the county and I love Darien. I went to school here as a kid through the sixth grade. I used to ride the school bus from Harris Neck, two hours a day each way. This is a great county.”

Art is particularly enthused about the outdoor experiences that Oaks on the River guests will have available, from bicycling to birdwatching to paddling on the river.

Michael Brown,
Director of Sales and Marketing

Michael Brown grew up outside of Savannah, Georgia, and spent his summers fishing with his grandparents on the banks of McIntosh County’s Shellman Bluff and meeting there for family reunions every Thanksgiving.

He was an aspiring theater actor and musician when he took what was supposed to be a short-term job as a desk supervisor at a Fairfield Inn & Suites. He became enamored by the hotel industry and continued his education while completing training and achieving certifications with the IHG and Hilton brands. He eventually landed on St. Simons Island where he spent nine years as Revenue Manager of the Historic King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort, three of those years as Sales Manager.

Brown is excited to return to Darien as Director of Sales and Marketing for Oaks on the River, where he looks forward to providing exceptional experiences and making new memories for visitors in beautiful downtown Darien.
